Turning transactional

Sprayway was founded in Manchester in 1974, by a couple of mates with a little bit of cash and a love of the great outdoors. Their function-first ethos has driven the brand’s designs for over 45 years, with products sold at hundreds of outdoor clothing outlets across the country.

But despite this rich heritage, Sprayway’s website was an unloved brand catalogue, floundering on an outdated Magento platform. Acting simply as a showcase for their range, there was no way for customers to actually purchase the products directly from Sprayway.

With SaaS platforms making it easier than ever to go transactional, the brand decided it was time for a change. So we moved Sprayway’s store over to Shopify.

A fast delivery

With local lockdowns impacting their wholesale and no way for customers to purchase through their site, Sprayway needed a transactional store up and running – fast. Working with Bollin Group, the owners of the Sprayway brand, we were able to launch this project four weeks early – with a stellar new design and a CGS Visual Next integration to boot.

Aside from being transactional, Sprayway’s new store had to encompass the brand’s image, with a focus on product quality and technical features. With that in mind, we designed the Sprayway site to really champion the brand’s top-of-the-range products.

An immersive product-page gallery captures every innovative element of each product, while mouse-over elements give additional information about their features – against a backdrop of wonderfully inspirational lifestyle imagery. On the homepage, links to Sprayway’s latest films and blog posts nod to the brand’s unrivalled passion for the outdoors, which is at the heart of everything they do.

Space to grow

After decades in the wholesale space, Sprayway is ready to enter the market as a heritage B2C outdoor clothing brand. And the results are already impressive. In the month since the site has launched, Sprayway has seen an increase of 50% in new organic users year on year, and a 60% increase in new sessions – figures that are set to rise as we head into the festive shopping season.
